United for a life without violence!
Welcome to the website for the Centro de la Mujer Dominicana, or Center for Dominican Women (CMD), a non-profit organization located in Puerto Rico! CMD is a grassroots organization serving immigrant women since 2003, especially those in situations of domestic or sexual violence.
The organization provides free services to immigrant women, including orientation, legal advocacy, emotional support, and referrals to partner agencies. Additionally, CMD has social workers and legal advocates on site, as well as an attorney who specializes in immigration cases which fall under the federal Violence Against Women Act.
Mission:
The Center for Dominican Women contributes to the holistic development of immigrant women living in Puerto Rico. This includes personal, educational, economical, political, social, cultural, and spiritual development. The Center guarentees security and equality in a positive environment, where women can recognize their power and rights.
